Scrumptious Scenic Seagulls - and a Half.

No unfortunately this blog post is not about a scrumptious scenic seagull.
If my title was mis-leading, then I apologize and a half. Whatever that means.

Have you noticed how popular that phrase has become over the last little while?

"That was a mission and a half."
"Wow, that was a meal and a half."
"Man that was an amazing nap. That was a nap and a half."

Seriously, you hear it everywhere. I'm not complaining, I quite enjoy it actually.

In fact, I will add it to the end of my Title to this post now. Wow. I'm a boss.
Anyways, just saying.

So, recently, however, I did come across some Scrumptious encounters.
                                                            some Scenic encounters.
                                                           and some Seagulls?

Yepp, it was an interesting last couple of weeks. Here, let me fill you in!

Scrumptious Food at it's Finest -;;

What makes something scrumptious?

Personally, I believe if food looks appealing, and is made up of fine ingredients that will indeed satisfy the strongest of appetites, then that makes something scrumptious. It also has to look really expensive, oh, and fancy. I've come across some pretty intense scrumptious foods lately.

< Please tell me that is not the most scrumptious Slurpee you have ever seen. Working with some cool "kids" they sure know how to sell it. I would totally buy a product off this guy if this is how he were to sell it!

Then below, I don't know how much more scrumptious, scrumptious can get! Look at that carrot. That is gorgeous. Who wouldn't want to eat a perfectly chiseled carrot that looks like an exact replica of the human finger?

That, my friend, or whoever you claimed you were, is perfection. I even had to zoom the picture in nice and close for you to truly appreciate how perfect that carrot is.

(On a side note, that's actually a really cool looking carrot!)

Now to move on to something a little more beautiful then a Slurpee that looks like a kadunk and a carrot that looks like a removed finger.

Scenic-ness

Scenery has been pretty big these past couple of weeks. I will let the pictures, again, do all the talking.

- The Chief - Squamish - BC

Indian Arm Trail - With Dogs - North Vancouver - BC

Elfin Lakes Hike - Squamish - BC

While some of these hikes were a little better than others, the scenery offered in BC is something that still amazes me every once in a while. Being able to look out my kitchen window and see the ridge of mountains along the North Shore is incredible. I often question myself why I came back to live here in Vancouver, and all it takes is a glance up to the mountains to remember why.

When I first arrived in Vancouver, I noticed all the License Plates said, "British Columbia - the most beautiful place on earth." I got a pretty good laugh out of that at first, but now, after all this time, I don't doubt for a second, that this truly is the most beautiful place on earth.

Scenery, it's pretty nice hey?

But you know what's not NICE?

The Sly Seagull

Once upon a time there was a kid named Tim. Tim was enjoying his beautiful Friday morning by waking up and cleaning out his room. The sun shone through the wide open window and made everything that morning so much better. Deciding to leave his room, he left to have a shower. When young Tim returned, what he saw next would forever (the next few hours) shake him. A seagull, sitting on the edge of his bed! Next to his window. The frightened Tim was shocked, as was his intruder, the seagull.

Startled, the seagull, with it's mouth, picked up Tim's headphones and flew out the window. Tim was very angry at the seagull and watched it fly away. To Tim's liking, the seagull soon figured out the headphones were not food, and dropped them a short distance away.

Tim ran outside and retrieved the headphones, and made sure, to never, ever, ever leave them near the window when it was open again. The seagull escaped without justice having been served. Maybe one day there will be a sequel to this story.

- The End.

In all seriousness, what the heck? Seriously, a seagull can't just go into your room and steal your headphones.
That's impossible. It's illegal! This seagull hasn't dared to return, and if it ever does, Justice will definitely be served.

PS. Seagulls are so much bigger when they're staring at you inside your bedroom.

Honestly, this is one of my favourite things to happen over the past few months, if not all year. It was hilarious, and it ended up being all good in the end. However, I am not sure if this incidence has given me the frame of mind to have more respect for seagulls for being so sneaky and gutty, or if I have lost respect because they're so sneaky and gutty. Meh, it was it is.

- And these are the things that made my blog these past couple of weeks.

Now like the seagull, get lost.
Ciao.

3-2-1 MAGIC

This last week has been an impressive one to say the least.
Here are the 3 things about it I found most enjoyable and noteworthy.
Oh, and of course, magical.

Starting off at Number 3.

3. -The "Yogurt" -

It's no word of a lie. This yogurt is so flippin magical it blows the minds of many.
What started off as a spoonful of yogurt, it made myself, and fellow intern Kevin Chan enter a state in which couldn't be explained. This yogurt has the powerful potential to make any individual enter a state of laughter and a high even the freshest and most sustained chronic couldn't do.

Activia Peach Yogurt is it's name, and don't stare at it too long, or some lasting effects could wear off on you. I don't really know how much else to say it, it's magical.
Laughing from nothing, for what seemed to be hours, this "magical" yogurt will do you wonders if you suffer from harsh anger or need a lightening up.

- Also is effective for those in a dead end job who need a Vacation when they can't get one.

For the cheap price of $ 2. 49, what isn't to love?

Join the movement, buy Activia yogurt today.

- Moving on to number two, a man with the power of 1000 horses, and a homecoming that sill haunts me.

2. - Jose Bautista, Roy Halladay and the fans in the city of Toronto -

This past week, the Philadelphia Phillies rolled in to Toronto for a 3 game set against the Blue Jays. If your a fan like myself, or a die hard fan at that, you knew this was one series you would not want to miss. The long, long awaited return of the Doc, Roy Halladay.

Game 2 of the series featured Roy's pitching styling's and when he took the mound at the top of the first inning, the applause and standing ovation, was truly magical. More magical then that yogurt listed above.

The fans of Toronto stood for just over 2 minutes and applauded the pitcher who was arguably the most influential Blue Jay when he was with the team from 1998 - 2009. It was classy. Give yourselves a pad on the back Toronto.

The two time Cy Young pitcher was pitching an outstanding game when Jose Bautista came up to the plate. The score 1 - 0 for the Phils was quickly changed by easily the league's best player.

Bautista smashed one off of Window's Restaraunt way out in the middle of Center Field and Roy couldn't even think to watch it fly. The most anticipated match up that every fan in Baseball had been waiting for through out the whole season of Baseball, was finally complete. Bautista walked away the victor.

As soon as it was hit, the crowd, 45, 000+, a number Toronto fans have not seen in the longest of times, raised to their feet, and roared with cheer. It was a spectacle, and a moment I will not be forgetting in the near future.

To view the home run - click on this little line of slurred letters and numbers below! =) It will be worth your time!

Bautista who lead the Majors with 7.4 + million All Star Votes this year, the most any player has ever received, has been on absolute tear and is looking to break every major league record this year. He hit 6 home runs this past week, 2 which were game winners, and he gets a special prize this week..

This prize goes to somebody, or something, which has truly, truly blown my mind.

Congratulations Jose, you make this country, and my mind, very... Proud.

^YES that is in fact my mind, being blown into many kadunklings.

As for that grand finale to close out number 2 this week, we move onto numero uno.

1. - Dan Mangan -

Vancouver recently celebrated its 125th Birthday this past weekend by having a weekend long hurrah of events going down at Stanley Park. Many free games and contests, concerts, and sport training opportunities, it was sure to be a somewhat decent weekend. Now, when you think of free concerts, you usually think of bands that are up and coming, that nobody knows, that will put on a mediocre performance, and leave the audience feeling decently entertained by the outing.

This was not the case Sunday night.

Headlining on the main stage, as the final performer of the weekend, Dan Mangan took on a crowd of 5, 000+ ready to hear what he had to offer. Starting at 10:00pm, which is absolutely unheard of, Dan took the crowd and woo'd them with his soft indie style tunes and made them jump at others with his intense up beat songs. So many people at this concert had no idea who Dan was when it started, but when they left, they sure knew the name Dan would stick with them for quite a long time.

Free concerts are nice.

But this was incredible.

Putting on a performance like he did, Dan's concert is quite easily the best performance I have ever seen. The location was perfect, the whole event was well done, staff were amazing, and the music was absolutely incredible.

There were also massive light up balls being bounced around in the crowd, and there wasn't a massive haze of marijuana floating in the air like you find at most outdoor concerts. Although I am a little biased because I think Dan's music is ridiculously good, this was still, and will be for a while, the best concert I've ever seen. But hey, this is my Blog, what I say GOES.

In a night which included Mayor Gregor Robertson and Danny singing Happy Birthday to Vancouver, a man dressed as a Robot take the stage, and easily the best finale a concert could ever ask for, this night was also magical beyond its realm of belief. A magical week if you will, was concluded perfectly by this concert.

If you ever get the chance, I highly, highly advise you go see Dan if you can, or go check out his music.

"Robots need love too."

His talent needs to be shared with you.

And as these three occurrences, and completely different things happened this week, this is what made my last seven days, as amazing, mind blowing, and as magical as it was.

- Now go read something that actually matters.

why midnight rice?

I sat here for quite a lengthy period of time deciding what to name this Blog. I even took a while to decide what to name the first blog post of this yet to be named Blog, but then I just kind of gave up. However, as a complete "noob", for a lack of a better term, to the blogging world (I guess beginner would have sufficed) what do I know about blogging? Most people's blogs I read are named after themselves, and I didn't want that. The clock was nearing midnight, and a memory struck my mind. A dear friend of mine used to spend the wee hours of the morning with me making rice around midnight when we would get hungry. The connection was instant. A Blog was born. I look forward to seeing what I have to write in the future, as I myself don't even know.

But one thing I do know, is that the rice is ready.

Who wants some?
